A 2 a.m. bathroom trip should not wake the other person in the RV. But on a thin, springy factory mattress, one partner rolling over can send a noticeable jolt across the bed. Learning how to reduce motion transfer in a mattress starts with identifying whether the disturbance comes from the mattress itself, the foundation below it, or a poor-fitting setup that shifts with every movement.

What Causes Motion Transfer in a Mattress?
Motion transfer is the movement you feel when force travels from one side of the bed to the other. A partner sitting down, turning, or getting up creates pressure. In a mattress with connected springs or very thin comfort layers, that pressure travels broadly instead of being absorbed near the point of impact.
Many stock RV mattresses make this worse. They are often built to meet a price point and weight target, not to provide residential-level sleep performance. Check the RV Bed Platform Before Replacing the Mattress
